Psychiatrist
Fred W. Stelson, M.D. is an American Psychiatrist certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He got his B.A. with high Honors in Political Science from Haverford College. He worked as a teacher-demonstrator for Oak Ridge Associated Universities prior to attending the University of Cologne in Germany for medical studies. He took his residency in Psychiatry at the University of Pennsylvania before completing a fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the University of Michigan Medical Center. As a junior faculty at the University of Michigan, he developed one of the first clinics for adults with Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder in the Center for Behavioral Medicine. He has published articles on ADHD and its relationship to other diagnoses. He has since practiced in a wide variety of settings treating patients of all ages. In 1998 he was recognized by the Michigan Alliance for the Mentally Ill with their Outstanding Professional Award for a psychiatrist, citing “outstanding sensitivity and responsiveness to the needs of persons with mental illness and their families”.
